Minutes
Present: Scott Blewitt, Chris Williams, Melissa Eastman, Paul Skarin, Patricia Halpin, Janet Cain
1. Meeting started at 7:10
2. Minutes accepted from last meeting
3. Budget: As of July 31st, 41 % of budget remaining, maintenance over 4%
4. Beach Report: $1,300 spent on lilies and hosta for Dewey Beach by Mike Kennedy. Craig Heino building kayak storage and shelves in Rt.11 shed.
· Beach drainage concerns from neighbors, not our concern but the state’s.
· The lifeguard chairs need to be configured in opposite ends of the beach and not side-by-side.
· Also concerns over parking on Jobs creek Rd.
· Weekend before Labor Day last staffed day at the beach.
· Evaluations went out to parents of children who attended swimming lessons.
· There was a mock emergency drill at the beach, someone pretended to injure neck: response was good. But young girl was hurt from jumping off small dock; slight whiplash was decided after going to hospital.
5. Director’s Report:
· Fall soccer coaches; 5-6 Boys Mike Emmonds, 5-6 girls Ray Brewer and Rusty Fowler, K-2 Brian Emery,3-4 girls Tina Naime and 3-4 boys Alan Abendroth
· Tents for soccer camp 2-12x10 purchased by Mary Lyman for $99/tent
· Soccer camp signed up for 3 years (locked in)
· Mark Usko putting in bluestone donating his time, and we just pay for supplies. He has power rake to get fields cleared.
· Scott will speak with Sue Fernald at Lake Sunapee Bank about parking lot arrangements.
· Scott will also get in touch with Middle School Boosters for that group to sell food and beverages at soccer games.
· Paul Manson in the process of making soccer goals-regular size and also smaller for K-3
· Soccer – no expenses except for referees, received free balls.
· August 15th Town meeting; Scott will try to create a PowerPoint slide show representing the entire rec. dept. goings on.
· Chris Naime donated $1,000 from bike race, which could be used for consideration in forming a biking and ecology trail in Dewey Woods.
· Paul suggested having the ditch mowed on Veteran’s Field so that retrieval of balls is easier.
